I don't have high hopes that anyone will be able to help me here, but
it's better than just ramming my head against the wall in helpless
frustration.
Background: A friend of mine gave me an old Japanese video game called
Ayanami Raising Project which I am attempting to install on my system
(Vista Home Premium 64bit)
He walked me through how to change the non-unicode region settings to
Japan to properly run Japanese games, but I don't know if that is at all
related to the problem.
Situation: I attempt to run the setup file, and without even pausing
it immediately displays a window saying "Setup has stopped working"
with the whole windows can check online for solution blah blah blah.
More annoyingly, the first time I tried to run it, it actually worked,
but I had yet to set my region to Japan so I closed it. Now when set to
either English or Japanese it fails to run.
I've checked around and tried every single possible solution to the
setup has stopped working issue, but cannot resolve it.
I know the game can run on Vista, as said friend had it running before
on his PC which also uses Vista. Even the uninstaller works, just not
the setup

I would greatly appreciate any help on the subject or
even just a starting point.
If you need more info just tell me what it is and how to get it.
