Dungeon Keeper II keeps crashing

I'm a total newbie to windows vista, but I know the fact: DKII.ICD
crashes unexpectedly whether I try to start building rooms, smith traps,
open a menu. Here's the report:

i really love this game, and i'd love to play it without saving every 3
minutes

after hunting around all day I found out that mine crashing had some
thing to do with the resolution. Finally got it to work by right
clicking the short cut and and under properties/compatibility I clicked
run in 640 X 480, then changed the screen setting in the game options to
the same. runs fine now but the cut sceens are only half screen. hope
this helps
