Halo 2 issues...

So I can install everything okay, and when I run all the compatability
tests it says it should be working amazing. Yet, it runs horrible. It is
all lag and I can't do anything. I've been seeing a problem around that
if your computer is too good to play the game you have to tweak certain
things to play it?
