Joystick problem with Vista

Hi,

I have a problem with my joystick on vista 32 and 64.

The Joystick works fine but the problem that windows vista did not
sense that I'm using it. So after period of time the monitor goes to
stand by and I have to press a button or move the mouse to start the
monitor again !

Maybe someone will say stop monitor from going to standby from control
panel but I cant because I usually leave the PC for sometime and I can't
let the monitor on.

Anybody had this problem or only me?

Should I try another Joystick?

If yes what you recommend?

Thank you.

How can the joystick work if Vista doesn't detect the joystick?

What? Oh, your game doesn't keep the monitor awake and it goes into
standby mode. Talk to the game maker. Some games don't keep the monitor
awake during long joystick sessions.

I'm sure you're not the only one, grasshopper.

Sure...

A different one.

You never said what joystick, what game, what kind of computer
(make/model).

Not sure what to suggest. Learn to post complete thoughts?

I bought it for 10 $ from non famous company.

Sorry I mixed up between joystick and Game pad

The One I currently use is Game pad

One similar to Playstation Controller

When I said that vista don't detect it I was meaning that Vista don't
sense that I'm using it. So after sometime monitor goes to standby. This
problem happens in all games not only one game.

I tried it on Windows XP 32 & 64 bit and it works perfectly the screen
did not go to standby only in vista this problem happen.

I think I will buy new gamepad from Logitec or Genius.

Thanks for your help..

Go to power options in control panel and set your pc for maximum power usage
config, go to the screensaver option, and set that to never use a
screensaver. If you leave your PC, switch off the monitor!

You have to tell your compuer not to go to standby by going to the
control panel and changing this in the power settings.

As I said before I can't keep my pc all time running without going to
standby.

I'm a movable person so I always leave the pc on and go somewhere else.

That's why I configuare it to go to standby after period of time.

Thanks for your replay

Then just change the settings while you play the games and then before
you leave the house change it back to standby.

In Assassin creed and Most Wanted monitor keeps working !!

Do you think it's a game bug?

Re: Joystick problem with Vista

I guess it could be. I was just wondering why you like the standby so
much?

This is my system. I have a Gigabyte Mobo. Intel core 2 quad. Windows
Vista Ultimate X64, EVGA 8800 gts super overclocked from the factory
with 640 onboard. I like this video card because it will run direct x 10
games.

I have 8 gig of DDR2 high speed ram. I have 1 terabyte's of hard drive
space. Its all in a Antec tower with a 750 watt power supply. I built
this system about 8 months ago and I have NEVER used standby at all and
my computer is never turned off.

It may be that the game that you are having a problem with does not
support the game pad you are using. It could be that I guess. It could
be that the game is not made for Vista and is not shutting off the
standby part of Vista.

Your guess is as good as mine on that one. I hope you find out.

Mike

I did not mean I configure my pc to go to standby mode after period of
time.

What I meant that Only the Monitor I configured to go to standby mode
after period of time and not all the PC.

You know leaving a monitor turn on all time not good specially when it
is LCD because that will affect the quality of colors after period of
time.

So I only configured the monitor to go to standby mode after period of
time.

I leave my PC 24 hours on and that's not a problem.

I hope you understand what I meant.

Thanks for replay..
