DX10 to DX9 to DX10 Possible?
I upgraded a machine to Vista and was running under DX10, when a game I
installed regressed the libraries and files to DX9. Is it possible to run a
file and bring my Vista rig back to DX10? Thanks.

Re: DX10 to DX9 to DX10 Possible?
I'm pretty sure that installing DX9 on Vista doesn't override the DX10
files, it just adds a few extra ones that are required for certain DX9
games.

If you want to make sure, type 'DXDIAG' in the search bar of the start
menu and open the program that appears in the list.
The bottom entry of the intro page that appears show which DX** version
your pc has. I'd been very surprised if it doesn't show as DX10.

Just in case I'm wrong, or you want to make extra sure, you can download
the latest version of DX10 here.... www.microsoft.com/directx

When you install DX9, you are only installing the missing components needed
by the game. Yoru Vista installation is still DirectX 10. You can run
"dxdiag" from the run menu to see your version.

Hope this helps!

Hey. It's a legitimate question, and I'm sure the answer will probably help
other people as well!

This guys trolling seems to be a lot better than the others in

Seeing this in his headers I doubt he even uses Vista.

What everyone else said, DirectX 1-9 won't overwrite newer files, only add
the ones needed for it's level of DirectX support.
