screansaver activates even while using gamepad
hello, when playing Trackmania Nations Forever (steam version) with a Logitech Rumblepad 2, the screen saver in Vista Home Premium activates after a few minutes wich makes it impossible to continue playing until keyboard or mouse is touched.
The problem doesnt happen while using the mouse and keyboard for driving. And also doesnt happen on Windows XP SP2
i'm using the drivers Logitech Rumblepad2 - lgs502 04/04/2008 , on Windows Vista home premium (32bits)
but it also happens if i remove the logitech driver and just use vista's own.
i unstalled the driver and tested in 3 games, 2 of 3 games who have joystick/gamepad in the menu and TMNF supports the rumble feature, caused my screen to blank after 5mins (settings in control panel's power options). the other 1 (bullet candy on steam) surprised me with not blanking my screen.
i'm worried that it might be a vista problem. because in the control panel's / game controler applet, i see it move the red parts when i press the buttons but it still doesnt wake the screen.
i mean by that, that the computer itself doesn't go to sleep mode or hibernation (because i didnt set it up for that), but that the windows screensaver options / power settings make the screen turn off after 5mins, and its fine, since sometimes when i'm away from the puter, i want it to turn off automatically like after 5 mins of no activity.
But i count gamepad movement as activity the same as mouse and keyboard. but vista doesn't.
Anyway, i uninstalled the Logitech profiler on vista and tested it that way, and no difference. i thought it was a "wake" option i had to set for the usb controler in the device manager, but that didn't help either.
i'm at a loss for what else it could be. i'm thinking its a bug in vista itself since even it own basic gamepad driver doesn't wake the screen. if you know of an update for the usb driver for vista (not gamepad) i would appreciate a link.
i wonder how many other games are affected by this?
Any idea if this can be fixed in vista?
