I just wanted to let you all know that I fixed the problem. I downloaded
a codecs package ( 'Codec Guide: K-Lite Codec Pack and other useful
stuff' (
http://www.codecguide.com/) ) called K-Lite Mega Codec Pack and
it seemed to fix the problem. While installing it it detected a broken
or missing video file in System Shock 2, so I removed it since that's
what it recommended to do. Hope this helps anyone else out who is having
this same problem, and thanks again for all of your help!!!

*Edit* By the way, for those of you running a dual processor like me
this may help to get SS2 running for you as well. I kept on working on
trying to configure my processor even though it seemed fine for the
game, but this really did do the trick. Good luck to you all
