Friends don't F*@# with your S*#@!
Totally Unrelated Topic
I apologize for this, but everyone here seems cool, a disturbing trend
arrose this weekend at my weekend "Hobby Job" at The Geek SquadT, I had 2
Vista computers come in with simple problems that a System Restore would
TOTALLY fix in about 2 minutes, but shock and horror, System Restore on BOTH
of these computers was disabled!
While the customers claimed they didn't disable the setting, I asked them if
they had friends that used their systems, they said "Yes". I sold them $29
for a half hour labor and proceded to show them how to enable a Guest
account and spent the other 20 minutes explaining the importance of a
PASSWORD!
Friends don't change other friends computers without their knowledge people!
Keep your "know it all" mits to yourself unless the owner says it's OK.
(Heard rumor this could be a Virus that does this, but scans I did came up
negative on one of them, so who knows)
One of these systems was hosed and required a restore, OS service ($129),
Backup ($99). I know you and me think that System Restore's 250Megs could be
better filled with ****, but most people aren't gonna miss that 250megs out
of 250Gig HD space, and believe it or not System Restore works. One of the
few things that does in Windows I think. With all these Pre-SP1 updates
coming down the pipe you should really keep System Restore going and fire it
off once in a while.
Don't know how? Click Start Menu > Type in "System Restore"
Just had to get that off my chest.
