idea for msft: allow user's to add games to GameExplorer
Microsoft,

Some games that come off the shelves via retail or via internet are not
getting placed into the gameExplorer, either this is a bug or gameExplorer
isn't ver efficiant yet. You should give user's the ability to add games to
the explorer by searching for the game's .exe and then have them search for
the box art themselves via a site you set up that list's every game box art
ever made. Do not always assume that the developers or distributors for the
games are going to add the vista gameExplorer info to the game.

Basic outline of what would happen:
1.) MSFT releases a patch that allows user's to add their own games to
gameExplorer

2.) The user installs a game. But wait it doesn't show up in GameExplorer
3.) The user hits the add game button in the GameExplorer folder
4.) The user browses for the games .exe file and hits ok (very important
that he/she its ok)
5.) The user is then brought to a website (that microsoft generously set up)
that contains every boxart for every game ever made.
6.) The user then searches through and find his/hers boxart for his/hers
game, and hits download boxart
7.) Windows Vista then automatically sets up the registry information that
contains where the boxart images are stored, where the .exe is at, and any
other unkn info

8.) Once after Vista is done doing it's thing we see our newley installed
game with boxart in GameExplorer, instead of having to copy a shortcut into
GameExplorer and have just the icon file sitting there next to boxart for
other games.

This would b a nice add for user's i happen to enjoy boxart for icons and
have information about ratings, publishers, ect

You can do this by creating a shortcut in games. The art gets added
automatically in most cases.

tried making a shortcut of the exe and placing it in the games folder no luck.

Games like:
Quake 3 Arena
Prince of Persia: Warrior Within
Command & Conquer: Generals & Zero Hour
Stalker

Re: idea for msft: allow user's to add games to GameExplorer

I have just tried it on an item that is not even a game.
Creat a shortcut on the desktop and browse for the game .exe when asked
for a location
Open the game folder.
Drag the shortcut into it.

Hope this helps. My other post was not specific,
