Re: lost desktop icons
The main file for the Vista icons is Shell32.dll. There are more that you
can look for like Explorer.exe in the Windows folder, Iexplore.exe in the
Program Files/Internet Explorer file, etc.
I usually create a new folder on C: called icons and save a copy of my
favorite icons there. I then use the change icon feature to associate an
icon with a shortcut.
The net is full of free icon websites with some pretty cool icons. Google
for them
