Multiple Desktop Folders replicating against my will.
Hi there,
new account here - it seemed according to a Google search your group
had a post or two from some time ago in regards to a similar subject,
however, none of the solutions i had found seemed to work for me, so I
figured perhaps I may have a situation unique from theirs and perhaps
called for a separate solution that I was hoping you all might be able
to assist me with on this fine evening.
Basically, I have an issue with multiple folders labelled "Desktop"
arbitrarily generating inside each other, and I cannot delete them. At
this point there is a Desktop folder on my actual Desktop, and within
are a good 20+ more Desktop folders. There are more inside my Documents
folder and Username folder each with their own set of consecutively
placed "Desktop" folders.
Solutions I've attempted include editing the registry to the default
locations in User Shell locations as well as simply attempting to delete
the folders, which typically comes up with a response that the file name
is too long to delete or move to the destination (Recycle Bin)...
I have attempted to use Windows Defender, Windows Live One Scan, AVG,
CCleaner, Spybot and others to no avail.
Is this a common Vista problem that anyone may have heard of, maybe
with Service Pack 2, or a screw-up in general? Possibly a virus that is
not in the database of any scanner?
Any help is mucho appreciated. Pre-thanks!
