A Folder Issue

About 2 weeks ago, my brother wanted to show me that he could make an
invisible folder on my computer, which is using Windows Vista 32bit SP1,
by changing the folder icon and name (to Alt-0160). After he showed me,
I realised that I could not delete the folder. I spent about two days
looking for a way to un-select the read-only function, to come to the
conclusion that it is a preset format (the blue square instead of the
checkmark). I cannot edit this folder's name, read-only status or hide
it (using the "Hidden" option) or delete it. I have recently noticed
that it has two files within it, which I cannot see. I have enabled the
view of hidden folders, but still cannot see them.
As this is my first post, I am not exactly sure as to where to post
this thread, so I took an educated guess as to where it belongs. Feel
free to move it as necessary.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Cow

Re: A Folder Issue
Hi, Cow.

In a Command Prompt window, use the Dir command with the /x switch to reveal
the "8.3" filename for that folder. Then use the RD command with that 8.3
filename to remove that directory (folder). If you are sure you don't want
those two files in that folder, you can add the /s switch to RD to remove
the directory AND all its contents. (As usual in the Command Prompt window,
type the command followed by /? - such as Dir /? - to see a mini-Help file
showing all the switches and parameters available with that command.)

There are several ways to open a Command Prompt window. Perhaps the easiest
is to click Start, then type "cmd.exe" and press Enter. (When finished,
enter Exit or click the X in the red corner, as usual, to close the window.)

If you need details, please post back.
