It sounds like you have a misbehaving program that does not clean up after
itself when the program is closed down. A well designed program WILL clean
up its temporary files after it closes and leave little behind.
Many people use CCleaner to handle these chores and run it on a regular
basis to keep the crud at an acceptable level.
