Icons appear as black boxes!

I installed an icon maker, because I wanted to have a crack at it. As
it turned out, I wasn't very good, so I uninstalled it a few days later.

Upon restarting my laptop, all my icons were black boxes! i increased
their size from 'classic' to medium and I could see some of the coloured
icon behind a black classic icon sized box.
I tried resetting the icon cache, which worked for one session of my
laptop. i shut down and restarted and the problem was back again, so I
tried the other method: switching the colour.
I switched it from 32bit colour to 16bit colour, and the black boxes
disappeared. I switched back to 32bit colour and the boxes were back
again! Please help!

Do a System Restore to a date before you installed the icon maker program.

To run System Restore, go to the Start Orb and in the Start Search box type
"System Restore" without the quotes. System Restore will appear in the
Programs result. Click on it, allow the UAC prompt, and follow the wizard.

Note: If you have a Symantec product installed (Norton), disable it before
running System Restore.

Re: Icons appear as black boxes!

Don't worry. I fixed it. As it turned out I didn't need a system
restore, I just needed to repair a program I though was long gone from
my system with a known black box issue called 'Vista Shortcut Manager'.
If anyone else has this problem, I'd suggest updating to the latest
version of it, as the issue has since been fixed in a later version.
