Uninstall Thunderbird and reinstall it. FYI, I installed Mozilla Thunderbird (current version - v220.127.116.11) and it's listed correctly in the "Default Programs" applet.

Hmmm, the trouble is, Thunderbird isn't listed in Default Progs, only
I have authorised Thunderbird as default mail client but '0send mail to'
always brings up Windows Mail
Age is something that doesn't matter,
unless you are a cheese.
