RE: UAC problam
You turned UAC on? This should have been on by default, you shouldn't have
had to turn it on. Also, what are you trying to edit? Things like Word
files shouldn't need elevated permissions to edit.

Re: UAC problam
I suggest you turn it back off.....go to control panel, users, click on user
accounts and at the bottom of that list is turn off user account control.
click on this and when you get to the next screen, make sure that the little
box is unchecked. You will have to restart your computer for this to take
effect.

RE: UAC problam
Here are instructions to disable UAC:

UAC is a good thing, though, and will help keep you safe from spyware and
viruses. Try turning off the secure desktop first and see if that's good
enough for you (it makes UAC less annoying):

Re: UAC problam
What build of Vista?
This sounds like an early Beta of Vista.
UAC is not near as intrusive in RTM and causes me no problems like the early
Betas

Re: UAC problam
Hi :-)

In addition to the other methods of turning off the UAC:

Go to Start>Run>msconfig>enter
Tool>scroll down to Disable UAC and click on it,
Click the Launch tab
Click ok and close
You have to reboot the computer for it to take affect

Hope this helps.
