Vista updates,downloaded, but wont install

Hey can anyone tell me why my updates for windows vista (quite a few of
them too) are downloading but not installing?!
neither can i update windows defender...
any ideas?
wb asap some one pls

In Windows Updates under Change Settings make sure that Install Updates
Automatically is checked.

Also Windows Update has the Updates for WD.

Try asking in

microsoft.public.windowsupdate

I have an error message 0x80004002
i have reregistered dll's and now my updates are downloading, just not
installing...i have even tried downloading and installing individually
but still no joy..

Have you tried the windowsupdate group as a previous poster pointed out?

i have tried that website, but not only is it down but nothing there has
been helpful...
i have done several things now, reregistered dll's (which microsoft
advised me,through notepad) and i have also deleted restore point (which
they also advised me too do)
Ive tried downloading the updates for windows defender, same error
message.
any ideas please?

Did you resolve this problem cause I'm having the same problem. WINDOWS
LIVEONE, SILVERLIGHT, WINDOWS DEFENDER, SP2, will download but won't
install. AT THIS POINT IN TIME I SAY GIVE ME BACK MY WINDOWS XP...VISTA
STINKS!

I get all my updates O.K. including Windows Defender.
My problem is that some times SOME updates don't install and I have to
do it manually.

Update is set to check daily at 6:00 P.
