Access is Denied when trying to shrink hard drive
Hello, I'm trying to partition my hard drive so I can dual boot Vista
with the windows 7 RC. Yet, when I go to shrink the space on my disk and
allocate it differently it tells me that access is denied. I was told
somewhere else that I needed to "Take Ownership" of my hard drive. I
then went to my hard drive's properties, security, advanced,
Administrators (Tyler-PC\Administrators), edit, Administrators
(Tyler-PC\Administrators), Full Control -> ALLOW, Ok, Apply. Then a
windows security alert tells me that I am about to change the permission
settings on the root directory of the startup disk. I click YES i want
to continue. Again it tells me that error has occurred:
Error Applying Security
An error occured while applying the security information to:
C:\$Recycle.Bin
Access is Denied
I click coninue and the same thing happens for the following files:
C:\autoexec.bat
C:\autorun.inf
C:\Boot
C:\bootmgr
C:\BOOTSECT.BAK
C:\Config.Msi
C:\config.sys
C:\Documents and Settings
Can someone please help me? Tyler-PC is the Only account on my computer
and it is indeed an Administrator. Thank you for your help and I look
forward to hearing from someone soon.
