Re: UAC problem
I have been having problems since a HD experienced servo problems. The
servo problem was not discovered for about 10 days when Vista kept
call for the run of CHKDSK at the boot up. It was determined that
there were corrupted files on the disk that could not be removed.
After a number of attempts I was able to delete about 40 files by
imaging the system, restoring the image without the folder that had
the corrupted files and then selectively restoring the clean files. at
the end of this exercise there were still bad files on the drive.
My next step was to purchase Data Doctor Recovery for NTFS. Several
runs of this program enabled me to discover additional corrupted files
when the program asked if I wanted to retry or skip the bad files. At
that point I opened the file managed located the bad files and
manually deleted them. The program also identified about 150 bad
URL's in the temporary Internet files folders. Then used the cleanup
facility in IE7 to delete all files except pass word files.
The next step was to rerun Data Doctor in the Advanced search mode. At
the tale end of the search it said there were five sectors that could
not be backed up during to problems. Since I did not know where they
were I skipped these sectors.
At this time when I have UAC turned on and check USER accounts the
size of my account shows a question mark. When I then turn off UAC I
can see the two accounts on the computer with the size of the accounts
in GB.
Does anyone know how the UAC problem can be cleaned up so that I see
the size of my account with UAC turned on?
Any help appreciated. If I need to supply you with additional
information please request in the post.
Thanks
