Password protection on Windows XP

Old PC unrepairable , old hard disk ok and now set up as E drive cant access
files as previous win xp had password entry. how do i access data on files

You'll need to take ownership of the folders/files in question. The
Knowledge Base article below refers to WinXP, but the process is the
same for Vista:
