Restoring files from backup and restore after reinstalling vista
Please Help!
I performed a re-install of vista on my computer, when I restored my files
from a previous backup that resides on a second hard drive I get an error
message stating that the user account has changed and the security
permissions needed cannot be imported with the files that are being restored.
So I went ahead and restored the files anyway, and now when I attempt to open
any of them I get an error message stating "cannot open document" user does
not have access priveledges.
Can anyone help?

Those files still have the properties from the installation that they were
created from. They are still seen as being owned by the account that existed
when they were backed up.

You will need to take ownership of the files to move them to the new
installation.

Here is a tutorial that will show you how to easily add Take Ownership to
the right click, context menu. After this is added, you can simply right
click a file or folder from that drive and select the new menu item to take
ownership.
