Let's pretend that at some recent point either a password was entered by
someone or the computer crashed and now thinks it needs a password do to
some bad file or registry entry.

You have to boot from the OS Disk, but after you accept the language
settings, click Repair Installation
Follow the KB instructions and pick a Restore Point date when you know that
you could boot the computer and log on without entering a password.
