Kristan,
I have the KB941600 USB fix installed and confirm that I have exactly
the problem you describe (Vista Ultimate 32-bit).
I regularly run sfc /scannow just to check that things are still ok. I
got the following result yesterday:
-Verification 99% complete. Windows Resource Protection found files but
was unable to fix some of them.
-I re-ran sfc /scannow and got a BSOD
I renamed out *cbs.log* to *cbs.log.AfterBSOD* and re-ran sfc /scannow.
This produced a new *cbs.log *with the same worrying message:
-Verification 99% complete. Windows Resource Protection found files but
was unable to fix some of them.
-As documented in KB929833, I searched both log files for the following
string:
-Cannot repair member file
-This string was not found in either log file.
As documented in KB928228 I searched both log files for the string:
-Repairing corrupted file-
This string was not found either.
In summary, SFC runs to 99% completion, reports problems, but does not
identify any. I am not aware of any problems with my PC at the moment.
I have reported the problem to Microsoft CSS but have not received a
response yet.
