Cant find my standard user account files when logged in as Admin??
Ok, so i have Vista Ultimate, and per "best practices" i created a Standard
user account, and use that for all my computer work. Well, i wanted to use
the Backup option and backup some files on an external hard-drive, and when i
click on that backup wizard, it tells me i need to log in with my ADMIN
account to do it. Apparently you cannot backup when logged into a standard
account. Ok, so i do that. But when im logged in with ADMIN user account, i
cannot seem to access the folders i have available to me on my user account!
I would think the ADMIN can access any and all folders. When i click on photo
gallery or Pictures folder, my pictures aren't in there. BAck in my standard
user account, there are thousands of pictures...but i cannot access them, or
my other documents when logged in as the Admin. So anyhow...i cant back up
from my standard account, and when logged in as admin, there is nothing for
me to back up! Why cant i access my Documents, and Pictures folder when
logged in as Admin?? Please help!!
Thanks
Darren

Re: Cant find my standard user account files when logged in as Admin??
When you run the backup as admin, browse to the C:\Users directory and
select your "best practices standard account" username, or any folders
within that you deem backup worthy.
Since you are logged in with the ADMIN account, and thus have a different
USER PROFILE than your Standard user account, simply clicking My Pictures
won't display the Standard User's pictures, it will display the ADMIN's
pictures.

Re: Cant find my standard user account files when logged in as Adm
Thanks. In addition, i figured out on my own that i had to go to the folders
in question while logged in on my user account, and "share" those folders
with the Admin.
Funny thing is that when i ran Vista backup, it didnt even give me the
option to pick what folders i wanted to backup. It just said "photos",
videos, documents etc. Not much room for fine tuning, so I honestly dont even
know if those shared folders got backed up. I assume they did.
Thanks for the reply
