There have been several users recently who were experiencing this same
problem. They all seem to have the following in common.
1. They all had a fingerprint reader installed.
2. They were all using the OmniPass software.
This behavior appears to be a conflict between a windows update and the
OmniPass software.
Here is the only response to the question 'how did you solve the problem?

You might also want to contact the maker of your system to make sure they
are aware of the problem.
