auth pop3 user

Hello,

my users need to be auth before they you any outbound protocol.
That works fine for everything as far as I see it now except for pop3

The users that can surf, use msn, send mail,...can't retrieve mail with
pop3.

Any ideas why and how to overcome this problem.
