Trying to install ForeFront Server; Configuring Distribution Server Component fails.
Hi,
I'm trying to install ForeFront Server in a single-server deployment
scenario ("one-server") on a Windows Server 2003 Std. x86 machine.
I have installed all software requirements. (SQL 2005 SP2, WSUS 3 SP1, GPMC
etc.) The WSUS server is fully synchronised with its upstream master server.
The installion of ForeFront Server fails. First, a warning is generated for
the "Configuring Distribution Server Components". Then the step "Installs
Distribution Server Components" fails. (Probably because the previous step
resulted in a Warning.)
I see this in the log;
[DATE TIME] Task(Configures Distribution Server Component)
The following warning occurred during the configuration of the distribution
server components: Exception raised InvalidOperationException.
The most likely cause is that WSUS is busy synchronizing.
In the FCSUA.log file I see this entry, indicating something went wrong;
MSI (s) (C0:E0) [TIME]: Product: Microsoft Forefront Client Security Update
Assistant -- Error 1920.Service Microsoft Client Security Update Assistant
(FCSDS) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to
start system services.
Error 1920.Service Microsoft Client Security Update Assistant (FCSDS) failed
to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system
services.
The WSUS Server is NOT synchronising, and I have plenty of privileges; I'm a
domain admin while installing the product.
Any ideas?
