Deploy FCS with Existing WSUS - 64 Bit Server 2008
Hi,

I am attempting to deploy FCS to our network which is already running
Windows Server 2008 in Production as part of a TAP. One of the W2008 64 bit
servers is currently running as our WSUS server.

I've succesfully setup FCS on a 32 bit 2003 R2 box for a 2 server config,
but am unable to deploy the WSUS update on the existing wsus server as FCS
setup detects it is not running 2003 sp1 or r2.

Are there any options for manual deployment of patches, or via some
mechanism other than WSUS? The technet documentation hints that WSUS is not
the only method, but does not specify any others....

Thanks,
Robert

I don't think you're using the forefront TAP (or I'm misreading).
The documentation states (and our MS support answered the question)
that the existing FCS components had to be running on all 32bit
servers, including the WSUS update component.

The only other supported deployment mechanism for updates is Windows
Update.

If you're digging on your own:

SELECT * FROM tbFile WHERE (FileName LIKE 'fcs%') ORDER BY Modified;

You can play games to figure out what files you need to deploy via
your alternative mechanism. More work than it'd be worth IMO.
