MOM for FCS - agent installation on vista x64 clients failed

Hi NG,

I am unable to install a MOM agent on a Vista x64 client (via MOM Management
console).
I 've disabled the firewall on the client machine, but the error still
exist.

The MOM Server is an optimized version for FCS.

I get the following error message (sorry for the german prints):

Fehler beim MOM-Server beim Ausführen des angegebenen Vorgangs auf dem
Computer...

Fehlercode: -2147023174
Fehlerbeschreibung: Der RPC-Server ist nicht verfügbar. -> RPC server not
available.

But on the Vista client machine the RPC service is already running!

The distribution of MOM agents to other client machines, with WinXP, W2k or
W2k3 Server installed on it, works without problems.

How exactly did you try to install the Agent?
Did you use the FCS console?

Hi Dieter,

no I've used the MOM Management console, which is part of the FCS Server
Installation Software.
In MOM Management Console, I clicked the "install agent..." context menu in
listview of the "Microsoft Operations
Manager[servername]->Verwaltung->Computer->Nicht verwaltete Computer"
treeview item.

And why don't you use the FCS console if you want to install FCS on that
Vista client?

Hi Dieter,

I don't want to install the FCS Client on the Vista machine!
This was done formerly, by WSUS3.0 after installing the FCS Server.
FCS Client Software was distributed to alle WSUS clients as well to the
Vista ones without problems.

The Intention to use MOM agents in conjunction whit FCS agents is only to
get additional MOM Features.
