join vista ultimate to winsows server 2003 Standard R2

I want to join my vista ultimate pc to a domain on windows server 2003
standard R2.

When i'm doing that a get an error that it isn't possible to join to domain
because the dns name could not be resolved.
A ping to the server Ok , pint to pc Ok.
looking up for shares on server Ok.

Could somebody help me. it's a practical excersice for my cours.
