Visual Studio 2005 SP1
I recently installed SQL2k5 Express Advanced & the associated Toolkit, so
that I could work on some SQL reports. I installed the SP3 edition of SQL 2k5
Express. Now Windows Updates wants to install Visual Studio 2005 SP1, but
fails, repeatedly. I tried to download the SP from the site & install, but
got an error message saying 'The upgrade patch cannot be installed by Windows
Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing,....'. I
found a similar SP for the Express version of VS, but again got the same
error.
The error in Windows update is ox66A, but I cannot find anything on this.
Anybody have any suggestion on fixing this issue?

Thanks in advance.

(cross-post added to SQL Setup)

Do a web search on the decimal equivalent of that hex value...

http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/for...-23c2966daa07/

(Microsoft search for
1642 SQL update express (MSFT OR MVP)
- first hit
)

Also, you will find more experience with solving SQL install problems
in an SQL newsgroup than here. Cross-posting to one for convenience.

Good luck
