"access Denied" message trying to install SP3

I have been trying to install SP3 for over a week now. Been on the board
searching through the help and just going crazy. When it gets to the updating
registry keys, it comes up with an access denied message. I have tried
rebooting, turning off my anti virus, and the "method 3" but where do I save
the notebook?? And how do I access it to double click on it?? Is this really
a fix for my problem, I am so sick of this problem I could scream!! I
installed SP3 on an older PC with XP and same antivirus with no problems and
antivirus active!!

I may have posted this in the wrong place, if so I am sorry. I have posted in

Nobody has replied to this yet? Surprising....

Your security settings in your registry are jacked up.

in

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\EventLog\Se curity

Make sure that the Administrators Group has full control of the Security
tree and all subkeys.

Should fix your problem.
