Updating to W.V. Ultimate from W.V. Home Edition

I'm trying to update to Ultimate from Home edition instead of simply doing a
clean install. Can anybody point me to some directions, since the update
function is disabled for some reason!

I assume you're talking about Vista?

If so, wrong group. However, are you starting Vista's installer from
within Vista, or booting from the DVD?

If you want an in place upgrade, start the installer from within
Windows, if you want a custom (clean) install, boot from the DVD.

Yes, I'm trying to upgrade to Vista Ultimate, but don't want to do a custom
(clean) install, and when I start the installer from windows, the option to
upgrade is disabled

I can't say I've spent much time attempting to upgrade, but is your
current Vista installation activated? Any WGA warnings?
