xp pro window updates installation problems

I purchased and installed XP Pro Upgrade with no problems to my old XP Home
machine. I activated it, but I could not use Windows Update Center. The
updates will download, but not install. I could not even install the Windows
Genuine Notification program. So, I manually installed the Windows Geniune
Notification with no problems. However, the Windows Update Center still will
not install the updates that it downloaded.

Any suggestions?

Ignore the title, You may need to do Method 2-
Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from Microsoft Update, or by
using Automatic Updates after you repair a Windows XP installation
