Jitter in IE8 windows

Every now and again the content within each window jitters up and down. I
have had this problem over three generations of computer hardware and many
fresh Windows XP installs. This has occurred in IE7 just the same. To remove
the problem IE must be closed and restarted. In the past the problem also
appears in the windows of MS Word etc. Cannot remember whether IE was still
running. A system restart made sure that it went away.

I have puzzled over this one for years, first thought it was hardware.
Clearly not so.

Would really like to fix this unpleasant problem.

Have you been using the same monitor and/or video cable throughout?

Do you have a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply)?
