IE 8 FIle Menu Issue

I am no able to longer use File | Send | Page by E-mail or Link by
E-mail... , They are greyed out. Shortcut to desktop, the 3rd option is ok.
This morning I installed WIndows Live Essentials and Office Live Add-in ver
1.4 (from Windows Update). I have since uninstalled them but still no joy.
OS is Vista 32bit Premium. Any help/ideas will be appreciated
