Problem Opening XML Files

IE8 automatically starts a download and only allows me to save rather than
open any XML file I try to display (discovered trying to open log file having
..xml extension). Tried reseting IE settings, MS support and google searches
without success. I need help... any suggestions welcomed?

Maybe the file needs a stylesheet of some sort, but still it shouldn't go to
download the file.

I've had this problem in the past and only with persistance did I manage to
fix it with file associations, typically Microsoft have a very bodged
implementation of the specification.
