Better to ask in a Sharepoint forum or newsgroup I think.
Does Sharepoint have a repair? E.g. via Add/Remove Programs?
It's usually the product which installed an extension which knows how to repair it.
BTW you didn't disclose the OS involved which will be significant
in what exactly you need to do. E.g. Vista doesn't call it Add/Remove Programs
any more though it still uses appwiz.cpl
