Getting at a frame element via the DOM?
Hello,

I have a web page that I want to get to a text element on to set the value.

I experimented with some code and I can set a text element after loading the
page via C#.

If the HTML is part of a frame, I can directly load the frame element and
access elements. What I can't figure out is how to access a frame element
directly from the parent page via the DOM.

I have code like this:
HTMLDocument document = (HTMLDocument) IE.Document;
HTMLFrameElement frame =
(HTMLFrameElement)document.getElementById("Query") ;
HTMLDocument doc2 = (HTMLDocument)frame.document;
IHTMLElement element = doc2.getElementById("FamilyName");

All seems to work except element is set to null, that is,
doc2.getElementById("FamilyName") fails to find the element..

If I use this code directly on the frame page it finds the field:
HTMLDocument document = (HTMLDocument) IE.Document;
IHTMLElement element = document.getElementById("FamilyName");

This is the HTML that I'm trying to get to the frame element of:
<frameset rows="*">
<frame name="Query" src="smdPatientSearch.asp?" scrolling="auto" >
<noframes>
<body>
<p>This page uses frames, but your browser doesn't support them.</p>
</body>
</noframes>
</frameset>

Thanks!

Grant Schenck

IHTMLElement element = frame.getElementById("FamilyName");

HTMLFrameElement doesn't have a getElementById() member...?

What am I missing?

Thanks, Grant Schenck
