New tab displays thumbnails of "most visited" sites.

I am running IE8 with XP Home and SP3. I have the Google toolbar and the AVG
Security toolbar installed.

When opening a new tab, the page displays thumbnails of "most visited"
sites. I have deleted all browsing history, cookies, temp files, etc. and
the problem persists.

How can I prevent this from happening?

Hi,
The Google toolbar is responsible for this behavior. Click on the wrench in
the Google toolbar. Under Web-browsing tools, uncheck "Enable the Google new
tab page."

Related: If the history isn't clearing completely, on the "Delete browsing
history" screen, uncheck "Preserve Favorites website data" (at the top.)
