IE8 not accessing certain websites

There are two websites - www.ispot.org.uk &
www.worthingchoralsociety.org.uk - that flag up an "Unknown file type"
message when I try to access them. But I'm told that at least one of them
(the latter) opens with other browsers. Are my settings at fault, is IE8 at
fault, or are the websites at fault? Hints appreciated!

Ispot works OK here in IE8, but the Worthing Choral society needs a username
and password so I can't comment....

Have you tried "Compatibility View"? The Compatibility View button is just
to the right of the browser's address bar and looks like a piece of paper
torn in two. Click it and the rendering engine renders in IE 7 mode. This
will often solve problems when visiting a website which is not up to current
W3 HTML 4.x and CSS 2.x standards. IE 8 is 100% compliant according to W3
Consortium, but not all websites are.

Thanks, both - That's got me going, and I'll have to check our that password
requirement with the choral society secretary who referred me to the
website!
