ie7 to ie8 - lost favorites

After getting countless prompts to "upgrade" to ie8 I finally did so only to
find that the favorites did not appear to migrate (and everything I read
prior to the upgrade said they would!!). So where are they?? How do I get
them?? If I revert to ie7 will they be visible??

Please state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Vista x64 SP2) when

1. What anti-virus application or security suite is installed, is your
subscription current, and is it supported in IE8? What anti-spyware
applications (other than Defender)? What third-party firewall (if any)?
Were any of these applications running in the background when you installed
IE8?

2. Has a(nother) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on this
machine (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought
it)?

3. Just asking for now!! Do NOT use such a Restore Point yet!! => Do you
have an available Restore Point which predates the install of IE8?

This is a typical reply that you send to almost everyone,
no matter the problem. I've seen this same reply several
times and it is redundant.

I'd like to know your background and who authorizes
you to be a MSMVP?

after installing 9 updates and tried using System Restore to correct the
problem without having first uninstalled the updates. <w>
