IE8 won't allow Goolge as default provider (Win XP version)

Has anyone else had this problem? It's coming up as some kind of error
everytime I open IE, that my default search provider cannot be enabled, and
it reverts back to Liveserach.

Go to Internet Options/General. There you can change your default search
engine. See if that helps.

WinXP SP2 or SP3? Post the exact (verbatim) "kind of error."

You may have some good anti-malware/spyware program that's stopping the
change from sticking.
