IE8 deleting history

i have winxpsp3, have set ie8 to delete all browsing history,cookies,form
data & passwords, etc.
after approx; 3 weeks i find cookies & other files & data are not being
deleted, & have to go through manually & delete all.
i have reset ie8 a number of times & asked help & support for assistance,
also number of different forums, but doesn't seem to help for long.
i have webslices off & use very limited amount of add ons, & have tried
disabling as many as possible, to see if one mite be causing trouble.
i rather like ie8 & would rather keep using, as opposed to what a lot of
forums suggest, of reverting back to ie7.
