Earlier user's name appearing in Title Bar; Homepage can not be se

I received my laptop from my employer. It was earlier being used by someone
whose name keeps appearing in Title Bar of ALL the IE windows. I just
couldn't figure out how to remove it. Even when I upgraded to IE8, it doesn't
go. I want that name removed.

The homepage also is locked on to 'Google.com'. I tried changing it from
Tools - Options - General Tab. But it goes back to Google. I want to be able
to set a homepage of my choice.

I am using XP Version 2002 SP2 on Intel Pentium(R) M Processor 1.5 GHz 239
MHz, 1.24GB RAM machine.

Pls help.

If possible, I would have the machine wiped and reset to factory settings
and then do all the updates yourself etc.. Otherwise, I'm not sure about the
name or homepage issues.

It is possible that the employer's IT person/Dept will have to help with
these, but...

Title bar: Try the VBS file from

Homepage: Are you running XP Pro, Home or Media Center? If you type
gpedit.msc into Start> Run does Policy Editor open? XP Home won't have this.

If Policy Editor opens, in the left pane, drill down through Computer
Configuration> Administrative Templates> Windows Components> Internet
Explorer. Select Internet Explorer, move to the right pane. Scroll down to
"Disable changing homepage settings." Right-click that option> Properties>
Explain> change the setting.
