Cannot choose file for attachment to emails

It may be since I recently installed IE8, but when I click on 'Attach files'
in either Hotmail, or Yahoo email accounts, the browsing window pops up for
only seconds. It then disappears, and then I lose my connection to my email
account, which has to be restored. It will only do this a limited number of
times and then I am locked out. I have tried allowing pop-ups from these
sites, but I still have the problem. I have been trying to send a couple of
photos to relatives for days, with no success.

1. Which version of Windows? (Including SP level- SP1, SP2, etc.)

2. Is another program or toolbar blocking the pop-up window? Perhaps a
toolbar from Yahoo, Google, Earthlink, etc? How about the Ad-Watch feature
of Ad-Aware?

Start Internet Explorer without add-ons from:
Right-click the IE icon on the desktop. Choose Start without add-ons.
or
Programs> Accessories> System tools> Internet Explorer (no add-ons)
If the problem goes away, you have an incompatible browser add-on installed.
