internet explorer 7 wont stay open

Hi, I did this same thing (restore twice) and have experienced all of
the problems noted here... I'm not a techie by any means, but I want
to share what worked for me.

I have a laptop and a flash drive that I use for everything. My
problem was on my home pc, XP sp2.

I downloaded ie7 on my flash drive and had planned on re-installing it
on my pc. Like the other person I read ie7 everywhere, nothing about
ie8, but when I uninstalled ie7--it acted as if I had uninstalled
ie8. Amid the numerous warnings about unstalling, I did it anyway (it
wasn't working, I figured I had nothing to lose).

When it finished, I restarted and just out of curiosity, I opened ie
and pow! It was working. Making sure this wasn't a fluke, I
restarted several times...checking ie every time. About 5 i think.

It's working great! I haven't tried to reinstall ie 8, not sure i
will. Just thought i'd share my findings.

By the way, making mistakes is how most people learn.
