IE8 possible issue

Win XP home, was running IE6, updated to IE8.
Ever since the update my PC wont recognize my phone when pluged into USB.
Nothing else has changed, Could IE8 be the problem? Should I go back to IE6?
Phone (LG CU500) was preveiously connected as a card reader only.

Probably a coincidence, I tried it on my work computer and still dont work,
maybe a bad cord or phone broke.
