How do I stop IE8 opening pages in Firefox?

If I open IE8 it will go to my home page (google.com.au) and I can perform
searches there but if I click on a link it will open the web page in Firefox.

If I type in a web page address in the IE8 address bar the page opens in
Firefox.

If I click on the Home in IE8 it opens in Firefox.

How do I stop this so I can use IE8?

Make Internet Explorer your default browser.
