Error 1706 when viewing maps ...
My installation of MSIE 8.0 is attempting to install a component from the
MSOffice CD when ever I click on a map icon in Google and go to a page with
one of their larger maps with points of interest icons on it.

I've tried searching for a fix - but have not located one.

I'm also unable to locate the MSOffice 2000 cd so it can complete the
installation of whatever it is searching for...

Any suggestions short of uninstalling MSOffice or rolling back 8 to 7?

Regards,

Gaver Powers

Details? What is the relevance of your Subject?

<cmd_output OS="XPsp3">
E:\>net helpmsg 1706

The endpoint format is invalid.
</cmd_output>

Sounds like there's a filetype being referenced which Office thinks it
should control but for which you have not yet installed its support?

If you can't figure out what the symptoms that you are seeing
(but aren't disclosing to us) are really telling you, you could
try running ProcMon to supplement whatever diagnostics
your are getting (and in turn make those diagnostics more
evident by giving them more context.)
